

The Flite Lab Hybrid Hinge – precision laser-cut polyurethane hinges with secure keyholes, for RC planes up to 20cc.
The Flite Lab Hybrid Hinge is designed for strength, flexibility, and ease of installation in RC aircraft. Each hinge is laser-cut from durable polyurethane film, a material known for its toughness and resistance to tearing.
A wide key cut on both sides of the hinge allows glue to wick deep into the material, creating a permanent bond while maintaining excellent flexibility. Once installed, the hinge cannot be removed without cutting material away from the airframe, ensuring a secure and lasting fit.
The laser-cut pinhole assists with accurate hinge alignment during assembly, helping builders center the hinge precisely between the trailing edge and control surface. Filleted edges on the keyholes further enhance flexibility and ensure smooth, repeatable movement under load.
The Hybrid Hinge earns its name by working with multiple adhesive types, including CA glue, wood glue, and epoxy. This makes it compatible with the most popular installation methods.
Although all CA and Epoxy work well, we recommended wood glue as it remains slightly flexible once dry and provide a long working time.
Strength has been proven through testing: a single Hybrid Hinge withstands up to 17 kg of force in a tearing test, compared to around 3 kg for standard CA hinges and 7 kg for traditional pinned hinges. This makes it suitable for electric, nitro, and gas aircraft up to 20 cc.
