The Flite Lab Flight School, hosted at MMAC
Have you wanted to fly RC but felt unsure where to start, worried about crashing, or just not sure who to ask? That is exactly why we built the Flite Lab Flight School. It is a welcoming way into the hobby, hosted at Modderfontein Model Aero Club, also known as MMAC.
RC flying is one of those hobbies that looks intimidating from the outside, then becomes unbelievably rewarding. The first smooth takeoff, the first proper circuit, the first landing that feels controlled, it is addictive in the best way. Even better, you get to do it alongside a community of pilots who actually want you to succeed.
If you are brand new, coming back after a long break, or you want help getting your model flying properly, you are welcome here.

Why learn at a club field

Training happens at MMAC, a proper RC flying field with a great community. Learning at a club makes everything easier, you can see how the field works, learn good safety habits early, and you have experienced pilots around you who can point you in the right direction. During training sessions, students flying with instruction do not require club membership. As soon as a student is ready to carry on flying on their own, they will need to be a club member, and we can help with club membership once training is complete. Beginner friendly, we can supply suitable training aircraft
If you are new, you do not need to arrive with the perfect model. We use our own suitable aircraft for beginners, then help you transition into your own models when you are ready. This keeps the start smooth, reduces stress, and helps you learn faster.
Already have a model you want to fly? Great, we can help you get it safe and flying well.

The easiest way to enroll is to purchase a session credit, this is your “ready to start” step. Once your order is paid, your credit is added automatically and we will get you set up for training.

Session credits
Training uses session credits. Credits are added automatically once your order reaches a paid state. Sessions are typically 2 hours long.
- Single session credit, R600
- Bundle of 5 sessions or more reduces the rate to R500 per session.

SAMAA membership, important
SAMAA membership is annual. You can contact us, enroll, and purchase credits without SAMAA, but you will not be allowed to fly until your SAMAA membership is valid.

What a first visit feels like
If you have never been to a club field before, do not stress. We will help you settle in, explain how the flight line works, and keep everything calm and simple. Most people leave their first visit feeling excited, not overwhelmed.
If you are starting with our beginner aircraft, we focus on confidence building and early wins. If you bring your own model, we can focus on checks, a safe maiden, and getting it trimmed in properly.
Weather and safety
Flying is weather dependent and safety comes first. If conditions are not suitable, we will choose the safest option. Depending on the day this could mean rescheduling, or using the time for preparation and checks.
