The MN99S Land Rover Defender D90 4WD RTR 1/12 Truck Crawler is a highly detailed small scale replica of the classic Defender 90 finished in silver. The ABS hard body and interior capture the proportions and lines of the real truck, while the 4WD crawler style chassis underneath provides proper off road capability. A brushed motor, low gearing and locked style axles give the MN99S enough torque for slow technical driving, and the 2.4GHz radio with proportional steering and throttle lets you place the wheels accurately on rocks, roots and garden obstacles.
Power comes from a 7.4V 1200mAh Li-ion battery which typically gives about 15 to 20 minutes of mixed crawling and scale driving, with a charge time of roughly 180 minutes using the supplied USB style charger. The MN99S has a top speed of around 8.7km/h, which is quick enough for small trail sections without spoiling the slow scale feel that makes crawlers fun. At 1/12 scale with a length of about 34cm, width 15.5cm and height 19cm, it is large enough to look convincing on the trail but still compact enough to run in gardens, small rockeries and indoor obstacle layouts.
The licensed Land Rover Defender D90 body is moulded in silver grey with a good level of detail and includes working LED lights for extra realism. Underneath, the ladder style chassis, four wheel independent suspension and soft rubber tyres give good grip and articulation on a range of surfaces. Out of the box you get the assembled truck, a 2.4GHz transmitter, drive battery, USB charger and manual, so you only need to add AA batteries for the radio and you are ready to drive. There is also an upgrade path with parts such as metal gears, suspension links, tyres and cosmetic accessories available over time, depending on supplier availability.
