The Nimbus 3D Pro Foam Board Kit is a compact 830mm 3D aerobatic model designed for pilots who want precise control at low speeds. The airframe is laser cut from high quality Creator Foam Board and reinforced with carbon, giving a rigid yet lightweight structure with an all up weight around 270g and a low wing loading of 20g/dm². This combination gives the Nimbus 3D Pro its characteristic slow flight capability, precise tracking and predictable stall behaviour.

The flat cross construction, carbon fibre wing support rods and carbon flat bar keep the airframe stiff during aggressive 3D manoeuvres, while the large control surfaces and sensible control geometry provide ultra responsive roll, pitch and yaw authority. Set up on low rates the Nimbus 3D Pro is manageable for intermediate pilots, and on high rates it becomes a dedicated 3D practice platform for harriers, torque rolls, high alpha passes and tight rolling manoeuvres. Access to the battery, servos and receiver is straightforward, which makes day to day use and field repairs simple.

The kit is supplied as a laser cut foam board and ply parts set with carbon reinforcement and hardware, so you only need to add your own motor, ESC, servos, receiver and LiPo battery. A downloadable build manual walks through each step of the assembly, from basic structure to control setup and balancing. This makes the Nimbus 3D Pro a practical choice for pilots who want a dedicated slow 3D foam board model that can be built in a sensible time frame and repaired easily after the inevitable 3D learning bumps.

Nimbus 3D Pro FAQ

The Nimbus 3D Pro is designed for pilots who are comfortable with basic flying and want to move into precision aerobatics and slow 3D manoeuvres. The product is rated as 2/5 for build difficulty and 2/5 for flying difficulty, so it is approachable for intermediate pilots who are ready to practice harriers, torque rolls and high alpha flight.
This kit is built specifically for slow 3D aerobatics and precision manoeuvres. Its lightweight 830mm airframe, 270g all up weight and low wing loading of 20g/dm² give it excellent agility and slow flight behaviour. It is capable of harriers, torque rolls, high alpha flight and other aerobatics in tight spaces, and can be flown gently on low rates or very aggressively on high rates.
To complete the Nimbus 3D Pro you will need 3 x 9g servos, a brushless motor with around 400g of thrust, an 8x4 to 9x6 propeller, a 20A ESC and a 2S–3S 500mAh LiPo battery. You will also need at least a 4 channel transmitter and receiver. These items are not included in the kit and must be purchased separately.
The Nimbus 3D Pro has a wingspan of 830mm and a length of 735mm. The all up weight is specified at 270g with a wing loading of 20g/dm² when built with typical gear. This combination gives the model its very light feel in the air and slow speed 3D capability.
The airframe is cut from high quality Creator Foam Board sheets using CNC laser cutting for accuracy, and is reinforced with carbon components including 1.5mm carbon fibre wing support rods and a 0.5 x 3mm carbon fibre flat bar. The design uses a flat cross construction with carbon reinforcement to keep the structure rigid while still very light. The kit builds into a tough, repairable foam board model that is well suited to regular flying and the occasional 3D mishap.
In the box you get precision laser cut foam board parts, laser cut ply parts for wing supports and control horns, a motor mount, a vinyl canopy set, fuselage wing support pieces, a pushrod kit with carbon rods and Z bends, 1.5mm carbon wing supports and the 0.5 x 3mm carbon flat bar. A downloadable Nimbus build manual is provided under the attachments tab on the product page, so you can follow a step by step guide while assembling the model.
The Nimbus 3D Pro is designed for slow 3D and tight aerobatics, so it does not need a full club runway, but it still requires a reasonable open area. A medium sized sports field, RC club field or similar open park space with clear approaches is ideal. Avoid flying in small backyards, near buildings or close to people, and always follow your local RC and safety guidelines.
With a typical setup using a small brushless motor and a 2S or 3S 500mAh LiPo, most pilots can expect around 5 to 7 minutes of mixed flying that includes some 3D practice and some cruising. Very aggressive 3D flying with lots of full throttle will shorten the flight time, while gentler flying on lower rates will extend it. It is a good idea to land with some reserve in the pack rather than running the battery completely flat.
