The King Condor Glider Kit is a 1500mm wingspan foam board RC glider from The Flite Lab Rapid Build Series, engineered for efficient unpowered flight and long, relaxed glide times. With a typical all up weight of around 550g and a low wing loading of 20.4g/dm², the King Condor is happiest climbing under power to height then cruising with the motor off, circling in light lift and floating back to the field in calm conditions.

The airframe is built from precision laser cut Creator Foam Board and ply parts with a carbon tube tail boom, giving a stiff yet lightweight structure that stays straight in flight. A clean V-tail configuration is combined with a torsion spring based control system and ultralite control cord in place of long solid pushrods, reducing weight at the tail and keeping the controls positive. All of the main components, including torsion springs, control cord, carbon tubes and Velcro battery strap, are included in the kit so you can focus on assembly and setup rather than chasing hardware.

Electronics requirements are simple and based around commonly available gear. The King Condor uses 2x 9g servos, a small brushless motor capable of around 800g thrust, a 6 to 7 inch propeller, a 20A ESC and a 1300mAh LiPo battery, driven by a transmitter and receiver that support V-tail mixing. This keeps the cost of the finished glider down while still giving enough power for efficient climbs and a comfortable safety margin in windy conditions. The low parts count, clear layout and downloadable build manual make it a good first electric thermal glider project for newer builders and a quick, satisfying build for experienced pilots who want a light, honest glider to keep in the car.

King Condor Glider FAQ

The King Condor Glider Kit has a build difficulty of 1/5 and a flying difficulty of 1/5, so it is very easy to build and very easy to fly. It is suitable for pilots who are new to RC gliders as well as experienced pilots who want a relaxed thermal and slope soaring model that does not demand constant corrections.
The King Condor is designed for efficient unpowered flight, calm weather thermalling and extended glide times with the motor off. With its 1500mm wingspan, low wing loading of 20.4g/dm² and V tail layout, it is ideal for gentle climbs under power followed by long glides, light slope soaring and relaxed sport flying rather than high speed aerobatics.
To complete the King Condor you will need 2x 9g servos, a brushless motor capable of around 800g of thrust, a 6 or 7 inch propeller, a 20A ESC, a 1300mAh LiPo battery and a transmitter with V tail mixing plus a suitable receiver. These items are not included in the kit and must be supplied separately.
The King Condor Glider has a 1500mm wingspan and an overall length of 895mm. Typical all up weight is around 550g with a dry weight of about 430g, which gives a low wing loading of 20.4g/dm². This light loading is what allows it to float well, circle in light lift and stay in the air for extended periods.
The airframe is made from precision laser cut foam and ply parts, with a carbon tube tail boom that adds rigidity without adding much weight. The V tail uses a torsion spring based control system with ultralite control cord instead of conventional long pushrods, which keeps the rear end light and simple. This construction gives a strong, efficient structure that is easy to assemble and repair with normal foam safe glues if needed.
In the box you get all the laser cut foam and ply parts, the carbon tubes for the tail boom, torsion springs for the control system, ultralite 9kg control cord and a Velcro battery strap. A detailed King Condor build manual is available as a downloadable PDF under the attachments tab on the product page, which walks you through the full build and setup process.
