The F22 Raptor Foam Board Kit is a compact RC jet style foam board RC plane from The Flite Lab Rapid Build Series, designed for pilots who want a quick building model that still flies like a serious aircraft. With a 660mm wingspan, 920mm length and a typical all up weight of around 550g, it offers stable handling, excellent manoeuvrability and the high alpha capability that F22 style models are known for, while still slowing down nicely for approach and landing.
Using high grade Creator Foam Board sheets and precision laser cut foam and ply parts, the F22 Raptor assembles into a rigid but repair friendly airframe. Carbon tube push rods, 0.9mm piano wire with Z bends, a Velcro battery strap and neodymium magnets are all included, giving solid control linkages and secure hatch access out of the box. Propeller wash flows directly over the control surfaces from the rear mounted motor, which keeps the model responsive right down to slower speeds and makes it easier to explore high alpha and tight circuit flying.
Electronics are kept simple, with just 2x 9g servos, a brushless motor capable of roughly 800g of thrust, a 7 inch electric propeller, a 30A ESC, a suitable LiPo battery and a radio with elevon mixing required to complete the model. The build techniques follow proven foam board methods, so anyone with basic model building experience can follow the downloadable manual and end up with a clean, straight airframe that looks aggressive in the air but is surprisingly approachable in flight.
Typical uses: small field and club flying, sport aerobatics, practising high alpha passes, and general fun flying for pilots who are comfortable with basic RC planes and want a more agile foam board RC jet without a long build.
