The Flite Lab HOTS Aerobatic Foam Board Kit is a 900mm wingspan RC airplane kit designed for precision aerobatics and 3D flight, using laser cut Creator Foam and ply parts with carbon reinforcement, pre bent landing gear, wheels and hardware included so experienced pilots can build a lightweight but rigid airframe that handles rolls, spins, knife edge and prop hangs on a typical 3S 1300mAh setup with 4x 9g servos, a 30A ESC and an 800g thrust brushless motor.

The HOTS Aerobatic Foam Board Kit is a Rapid Build Series RC airplane for pilots who want a compact 900mm aerobatic and 3D foam board model that still feels precise in the air. The airframe is laser cut from high quality Creator Foam and ply, then reinforced with carbon tubes and pre bent piano wire landing gear so the structure stays rigid under aggressive manoeuvres. With a typical all up weight around 585g and a wing loading of 31g/dm², the HOTS tracks cleanly, snaps crisply and has strong vertical performance on a sensible electric power setup.

This kit is aimed at experienced pilots who are already comfortable with sport models and basic aerobatics and are looking for a dedicated aerobatic and 3D practice airframe. The HOTS uses standard 9g servos and common brushless motors, ESCs and LiPo batteries, so you can reuse gear from other models. Recommended electronics are four 9g servos, a brushless motor capable of roughly 800g thrust, a 30A ESC, an 8 to 9 inch electric propeller and a 3S LiPo around 1300mAh, which gives you enough punch for knife edge, prop hangs and fast recovery from low altitude manoeuvres.

The kit includes laser cut foam fuselage and wing panels, ply formers and firewall, carbon tubes and matching piano wire for pushrods and tail reinforcement, plus pre bent main landing gear with wheels, a tail wheel, 3D printed wheel collars, vinyl, a velcro battery strap and canopy magnets. A detailed build manual is supplied as a downloadable PDF so you can follow each step from dry fitting through to final setup. Combined with the Rapid Build Series layout and sensible access to the battery and radio gear, this makes the HOTS quick to assemble while still feeling like a proper scratch built aerobatic model in the air.

HOTS FAQ

The HOTS Aerobatic Foam Board Kit is aimed at experienced pilots who are already comfortable with sport models and basic aerobatics. The build difficulty is rated 2/5, so the airframe itself is not hard to assemble, but the flying difficulty is 4/5 because it is designed for high energy aerobatics, fast responses and 3D style manoeuvres rather than beginner training.
The HOTS is a 900mm aerobatic foam board model specifically intended for precision aerobatics and 3D flight. With an all up weight of about 585g and a wing loading of 31g/dm², it is capable of high energy manoeuvres such as rolls, spins, inverted flight, knife edges and prop hangs when set up with suitable power and throws. It is best used as a dedicated aerobatic and 3D practice airframe rather than a relaxed trainer.
To complete the HOTS you will need 4x 9g servos, a brushless motor capable of roughly 800g of thrust, an 8 to 9 inch electric propeller, a 30A ESC, a suitable LiPo battery matched to your motor and ESC, and at least a 4 channel transmitter and receiver. These items are not included in the kit and must be supplied separately.
The HOTS Aerobatic Foam Board Kit has a 900mm wingspan and a 620mm fuselage length. Typical dry weight is around 478g, with a specified all up weight of about 585g, which gives a wing loading of 31g/dm². This weight and loading combination is what allows the model to remain rigid and precise in high energy manoeuvres while still being light enough for strong vertical performance on the recommended power setup.
The airframe is cut from high quality Creator Foam and ply using precision laser cutting, and reinforced with carbon tubes used for pushrods, canopy mounts and elevator structure. Pre bent piano wire landing gear, 3D printed wheel collars and proper main and tail wheels are included, which gives a strong undercarriage for repeated take offs and landings. The combination of foam board, ply, carbon and wire produces a lightweight but rigid structure that stands up well to the stresses of aerobatic and 3D flying and can be repaired with normal foam safe glues if needed.
In the box you get laser cut foam parts for the fuselage and wing, laser cut ply parts for the firewall, landing gear mount and control horns, carbon tubes with matching piano wire, pre bent piano wire landing gear, 3D printed wheel collars, main wheels and a tail wheel, vinyl, a Velcro battery strap and canopy hatch magnets. A detailed HOTS manual is available as a downloadable PDF under the attachments tab on the product page, which guides you through the assembly and setup process step by step.
